Supporting the values that built Canada—Faith, Family, and Freedom
Fresh-roasted specialty coffee for exceptionally rich flavour
Canadian family business resisting communism one household at a time
Resistance Coffee is really about two, complimentary things: premium coffee and superior values. We offer and promote the best of both.
Our family business is an overflow of the values we hold dear, and the values which our nation is built on. We believe that these values of faith, family, and freedom are both timeless and timely. They are needed more than ever.
Our premium coffee is a reflection of our own love and enjoyment of fresh-roasted coffee, and our desire to share that with fellow patriots. We source specialty-grade coffees from around the world, and develop roast recipes that result in a delicious, smooth, flavourful cup. No burnt tastes of communism here.
So if those two things sound good to you, grab some beans, brew a cup, and lets get to the work of rebuilding our nation one family at a time.
At Resistance Coffee Company, we are grounded in principles that reflect the heart of Canada’s enduring spirit. Our values guide every roast, every interaction, and every step we take as a company.
This country was built by an industrious people
The Nanny State quickly becomes a tyrant to liberty
Building towards a better Canada for our future generations
Our society should be ordered by just and good laws
Rooted in the image of God, every person has inherent value and worth
Wisdom begins with honouring God's ultimate supremacy
Ordered liberty is essential to healthy societies
Strong families are the building block of a strong nation
Human agency and responsibility for their actions
These values aren’t just words—they’re the soul of Resistance Coffee Company, brewed into every cup and shared with every customer who joins us in the fight for a freer, stronger Canada.
As the owners of Resistance Coffee, we believe that meaningful resistance to evil begins in the home, and that the moments known only to God are the ones that matter most.
I (Alex) am the Pastor of a local church in Peterborough, Ontario, and I (Rebecca) am an elementary teacher at the Classical Christian school we helped start in 2019. We want our daughters’ minds to be furnished with truth, goodness & beauty, and we are passionate about equipping the next generation of dragon slayers.
Every company is, ultimately, promoting values of some kind. We took on Resistance Coffee because we were tired of having to choose between premium, fresh-roasted coffee and our values, so we thought we’d try to offer both.
Resistance Coffee isn’t a gimmick or a pitch; it’s an extension of our family, our local community, and the values we share. We love it, and we think there are many others who do too.
Our hope is not only to provide every patriot with premium coffee, but also to provide meaningful encouragement to the cause of faith, family, and freedom in our land. Maybe those are lofty goals, but our nation wasn’t built by cowards, complainers, and quitters. We refuse to take the destruction of our nation lying down.
We do face an uphill battle, but we firmly believe that “with the Lord we will do valiantly.” (Psalm 60:12) and “…the one glimpse of God's paradise given on earth, is to fight a losing battle - and not lose it” (G. K. Chesterton).
Soli Deo Gloria,
—Alex & Rebecca
We begin by sourcing specialty-grade green coffees from around the globe, and work with industry-leading roasters to develop roast recipes that produce the best from each bean. We offer roasts that cover the flavour spectrum of our customers; from bright, fruity light-roasts, to perfectly balanced medium roasts, to bold but smooth dark roasts. We roast and ship weekly, so our customers know they are getting the best coffee possible. What most people think of when they think of coffee is stale and burnt (with a lot of cream and sugar added). If that's your jam, that's ok. But if you want to know what coffee beans ACTUALLY taste like, without the burnt and bitter aftertaste of communism, we are your people.
Our family-run team, led by Alex and Rebecca, pours heart and soul into developing our signature roasts. We experiment tirelessly, fine-tuning every detail and technique to craft blends that resonate with the spirit of the True North. From the initial green bean to the final grind, every step is guided by our commitment to our values, quality and love for coffee. We ensure each bag reflects the care and pride of a small business dedicated to fuelling freedom-loving coffee drinkers with a brew as resolute as they are.
Ben is a close friend, newt fancier, cereal critic, and cirque du soleil aspirant. A father, pastor, writer, and teacher, he spends his spare time tinkering with Resistance copy and trying to find humor in otherwise humorless situations.
A long-time devotee of the sacred brew, he knows life is too short to drink coffee that tastes like it was filtered through a recycling bin and has made it his mission to rescue dark roast from the contempt of the coffee bourgeoisie. Due to a recently-diagnosed lactose intolerance, he’s well on his way to drinking coffee without cream.
Olivia is Alex’s little sister, which is either a blessing or a curse, depending on how late in the day his instructions come in. Although she’s slightly shorter than Alex, she actually has hair, which works out to a net capital gain when you factor in the current height exchange rate.
A wife and mother to four, Olivia manages the day-to-day excitement of Resistance Coffee HQ from her country homestead. When she’s not herding chickens or small children, she’s probably in contact with one of our Outposts across the country. She is the cheerful “glue” that keeps the home fires burning — and the business from burning down.
“Mamma Sue” is Alex’s Mother, and the main reason (along with his late father) for their family’s lifelong commitment to faith, family, and freedom. Like every good endeavor, our company is just the fruit at the end of a long line of generational faithfulness. All we did was dry, roast, and bag it.
Sue’s been a homemaker, prayer warrior, college director, bookkeeper, and tireless curator of Alex’s more-unhinged ideas. She’s a proud grandma to a growing quiver of grandchildren and someday looks forward to a retirement that includes actual rest. Although at this point she doesn’t hold out much hope.
Every coffee company has “that” guy. The guy with perfect teeth and perfect hair. The guy who’s a crack shot with a Benelli M4. The guy with preternatural roast instincts. The guy you’d love to hate if he wasn’t so darn amiable, humble, and experienced. Matthew is that guy — and he’s OURS, so you can’t have him.
After a few soul-withering years behind enemy lines (which we won’t name here, but it rhymes with Warducks) learning the ins and outs of corporate coffee servitude, he made a break for the door. He looked cold so we let him in.
